Help using Local Loops

Getting in the Loop

  • To get in the Loop just text the code of the Local Loop you want to get into to 2343. If you want to get into several Local Loops you need to send each code in a separate text message.

You can get into Local Loops and view your messages on the web if you get a free Afid Mobile account (Local Loops are a service developed by Afid Mobile). You can see how to activate your free account here.

Receiving Messages

  • Any time you want to receive the latest messages from the Local Loops you have joined you can send all to 2343 from your phone. If you want specific messages on things to eat, buy and do then send eat, buy or do to 2343. You will receive up to five messages each time you make a request.

Alternatively, you can log in to your Afid Mobile account to see your messages. If you have a mobile phone with a web browser you can log in from your phone.

Note: you should check what your network provider will charge you for using the web on your phone as the casual rates can be very high and we don’t want you to get a nasty shock on your bill.

Managing your Messages

  • Basically, you receive messages from Local Loops when you want them – so if you don’t want messages just don’t request them by sending all, eat, buy or do.

The exception is that we might occasionally send you a message to let you know when we have created more specific Local Loops for a category that you have already joined.

For example if you have joined the Stuff for Men Local Loop we will let you know if we create more specific Local Loops in that general category like Fashion for Men, Gadgets for Men etc.

If you decide you don’t want any more messages from Local Loops you can block messages by sending the word block to 2343.

If you want to unblock messages you just send the word unblock to 2343.

If you log in to your Afid Mobile account and go to the Manage my Loops section you will see the Loops you have joined in a list on the right hand side of the screen. At the bottom of the Joined Loops list there are options that let you leave Loops you have joined or control how you receive messages from Loops.
